The team behind Mokha 1450 have applied their combined knowledge and experiences of over a decade in competing in Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Barista Championships and other coffee competitions to pioneer a new coffee concept - Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge at Golden Mile Galleria.
A specialty coffee shop with a lounge atmosphere, Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge serves high-concept yet assessable and delicious coffee-inspired non-alcoholic mocktails, as well as non-coffee mocktails and drinks for those who would like a refined, but relaxed and unpretentious environment in which to unwind and connect with friends.
Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge offers a few world firsts as the lounge debuts the concept of having any brewing method currently available in the world done at the client’s table via a portable bar.
This ensures that the consumer, be it a coffee connoisseur or coffee novice, can engage with the barista and ask questions as their coffee is being prepared by some of the region’s best Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certified baristas.
Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge also debuts the concept of signature desserts designed by one of Dubai’s most innovative pastry chefs, to be paired with specific coffees to enhance the flavour profile of that particular single origin coffee.
Some of the world’s finest Belgian chocolates are also on offer that are crafted by one of Dubai’s top Master Chocolatiers and are infused with Mokha 1450 specialty coffees and paired with specific brewed coffees or mocktails.
Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge is also the only place in the world that offers coffee from the Masha District of Ethiopia that is produced by Ethiopian athlete and businessman Haile Gebrselassie, the winner of multiple Olympic gold medals and arguably the greatest long-distance runner in history.
Open Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday, 8am to 11pm. Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge, Street Level, Building 8, Golden Mile Galleria, Palm Jumeirah. www.mokha1450.com (04 425 4067).

ABOUT MOKHA 1450
Mokha 1450’s market differentiators within the UAE as well as the global specialty coffee market is that at the core of the company’s foundation is a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate. Mokha 1450 pay coffee farmers much higher premiums for their coffees and most of their coffees are sourced from 100% women-owned and operated coffee cooperatives and farms.
Women represent over 90% of the coffee value chain but are only present anywhere from 5% to 10% within the farm ownership or mid to high-level managerial positions in the global coffee industry. Mokha 1450 partner with some of their women farmers to build water wells to help with drought, and fund community projects that make much-needed change within these communities.
Garfield Kerr, CEO of Mokha 1450 says “unbeknownst to the average coffee consumer, many of these women are engaged in arduous work to harvest coffee but have historically been underpaid as has been the case for all coffee farmers for that matter. Our regular customers know of our CSR program, but it is not ideally something that we advertise as we are not engaging in the CSR program for marketing reasons but instead to make genuine change. However, our clients enjoy the fact that every cup they consume goes towards making positive change.”
