Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) to enhance cooperation and exchange of knowledge between the two bodies.

The MoU, which was signed on Tuesday at the DHA headquarters in Dubai, also aims to construct meaningful strategic partnerships in areas of mutual interest.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami Director-General of the DHA and H.E. Dr. Raja Al Gurg – Vice Chairperson of Board of Trustees – MBRU, signed the MoU, which aims to work towards both organizations contributing expertise to elevate the healthcare sector in the UAE.

Commenting on the MoU, Al Qutami said the authority and the university are tied with a strategic partnership, which aims to achieve common goals related to education and training.

He stressed that the MoU supports its scientific research programs, initiatives and medical education strategy, which focuses on building distinctive medical cadres, and establishing advanced guidelines for scientific research and specialized studies.

He praised the scientific and academic standing of MBRU and its great role in graduating doctors and specialists with professional and personal capabilities, who go on to make outstanding contributions to strengthening the knowledge of society and supporting health institutions.

"The signing of the MoU with Dubai Health Authority represents an important step for MBRU as it paves the way for further cooperation, exchange of knowledge and experience in order to enhance medical and scientific research that contributes to building a healthy knowledge-based society,” said H.E. Dr. Raja Al Gurg.

“MBRU and DHA share an inspiring common vision seeking to form an integrated health system accompanied by the best health services with the goal of creating healthier and happier communities. A goal that MBRU supports through its research efforts based on innovation, mission to advance health, and through establishing a comprehensive academic health system to serve humanity.”

The agreement supports the vision of MBRU and DHA to establish a common framework for identifying current and future areas of cooperation in the fields of medical education, medical and health research. The MoU stresses on the importance of strengthening cooperation in training of medical practitioners, nursing, and other healthcare specialties.

The MoU aims to enable members of MBRU to enhance their expertise in practicing medicine by taking advantage of the advanced facilities provided by the Dubai Health Authority institutions in accordance with the laws and regulations to obtain a license to be eligible to practice the profession. Both parties will work on enhancing cooperation in organizing joint programs that support the healthcare sector, such as conferences, seminars and events. This is in line with the shared vision to enhance the healthcare and medical sector in the UAE based on the latest global trends and innovation.
