Dubai : Apparel Group has partnered up with Harley International Medical Clinic during Movember to expand on common health issues men face and provide support through complimentary screening. Last month, Apparel Group launched the “Prevention Over Treatment” Breast Cancer Awareness campaign aimed at the female employees. This month, Apparel Group is focusing on the male employees through the Movember initiative, which is taking place in the head office in Dubai.

This initiative aims to encourage employees to develop awareness on how sporadic situations and genetics can play a role in developing health issues. Genetics Counsellor Dr. Rifaat Rawashdeh from National Reference Laboratory (NRL) highlighted how behaviour and lifestyle factors, including viruses, hormones and chemicals can impact the Gene Panels in the body, which when left untested, can cause cancer.

Dr. Shereen Atef, Consultant Clinical Pathologist at National Reference Laboratory (NRL) spoke about men's health- prevention of diseases such as colorectal cancer, benefits of lipid profile and importance of genetic testing. In addition, Dr. Ashwin Porwal, Specialist Internal Medicine at Harley International Medical Clinic conducted onsite Health Screening sessions with his clinical team.

Public education on cancer awareness can make a significant impact within the community. Hence, both Pink October and Movember campaign programs at Apparel Group aim to improve the overall health and well-being of employees and their families. The topics discussed by the volunteering medical specialists from Harley International Medical Clinic resonated with employees who have family members going through breast cancer. As a result, Harley International Medical Clinic ensured the employees receive the necessary testing procedures for preventative measures.

Chief Executive Officer of Harley International Medical Clinic, Hala Bhat said "It is important that we show every human that their life is important and to ensure that they have access to education, screening, treatment, support and hope.

Founder & Chairwomen of Apparel Group, Sima Ganwani Ved said: “Apparel Group cares about the wellbeing of its employees. We would like to thank Harley International Clinic for contributing towards our ongoing human resource campaigns during Pink October and Movember. We will continue to work together to ensure our employees and community have access to relevant resources to prevent breast cancer and provide early detection.”
