ABU DHABI- The UAE's Central Bank and New York University - Abu Dhabi, NYUAD, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote partnership and collaboration in the areas of professional training and development and research initiatives.

The Central Banks Deputy Governor, Mohammed Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, and NYUAD Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations, Peter Christensen, signed the MoU. A number of senior executives and leaders from both the Central Bank and NYUAD were present during the signing.

The MoU provides for a formal framework for cooperation in areas of common interest. Potential areas of collaboration include development of professional and executive education training programs, student scholars programme, internship and career development opportunities, research projects, seminars, workshops and conferences and a distinguished speaker series.

Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Al Falasi said, "The Central Bank is keen to foster collaboration with premier academic institutions in the areas of research, training, internship and recruitment of high calibre graduates, particularly Emiratis. The newly established Research and Statistics Department at the Central Bank provides the expertise to capitalise on talents and cultivate cooperative collaborations in the areas of mutual interests for all parties involved."Christensen went on to say, "As a liberal arts and research university, NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to contribute to the region's vibrant educational ecosystem. Creating opportunities for innovative collaborations in areas of research, talent development and training with strong local industry experts, like the Central Bank, strengthen NYUADs contributions to knowledge and research development in Abu Dhabi and the UAE."
