Emergency responders were deployed Wednesday for a "major incident" at a dry dock in Scotland's capital Edinburgh involving a ship partially toppled over, with reports of injuries and people missing.

Images broadcast showed a research vessel, the Petrel -- which was reportedly bought and outfitted by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen -- listing at a 45-degree angle amid strong winds.

A source told The Sun newspaper that 10 crew members were injured and two had been reported missing at the Imperial Dock in the Leith district of Edinburgh, but authorities had not yet confirmed those numbers.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it had sent five ambulances, an air ambulance, three trauma teams and other units to the site at around 8:30 am (0830 GMT).

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilised four trucks and other equipment after it received calls to attend, a spokesperson said.

Police Scotland said its officers were also at the scene, and the coastguard agency said teams from three stations were assisting at the "major incident" at the dry dock.

Local councillor Adam McVey described it as "terrifying" for those on board, tweeting that "strong winds" had dislodged the vessel.
