Russia announced on Wednesday the launch of naval exercises in the Baltic Sea, against the backdrop of rising tensions with European countries over the Ukraine conflict.
"The Ocean Shield-2023 naval exercises have begun in the Baltic Sea," the defence ministry said in a statement, adding that 30 warships and 20 support vessels would participate alongside some 6,000 military personnel.
