United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has been named one of the best-regarded universities in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings. The ranking, which measures university reputations across the Asian Continent ranked UAEU in 86th place, and the only university in the UAE to make the top 100.

This is the first ever Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings - a new list based on the same trusted and comprehensive range of performance indicators as the established THE World University Rankings which is published by the British magazine Times Higher Education with data supplied by Thomson Reuters and are regarded to be one of the most influential and widely observed university rankings.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor said, "We are pleased to be among the best, and we celebrate this achievement which we would not have received without the support and direction of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and Chancellor of UAEU."

"Excellence is achieved over many years and is the result of our focus on extraordinary people. I am proud of our talented faculty, who educate outstanding young people while conducting world-class research which plays a pivotal role in driving the knowledge economy."

Phil Baty, Editor, Times Higher Education Rankings commented, "The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings use the same established and trusted range of 13 separate performance indicators that are used to create the prestigious THE World University Rankings, which are the global gold standard in university comparisons. These cover all of a globally-facing university's core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. So the Asia University Rankings demonstrate an institution's strength against global data definitions and prestigious global standards. Any institution making it into the top 100 list should be proud of their achievements against such prestigious benchmarks."

"UAEU is the UAE's only top 100 representative, so it stands out from the crowd. It scores particularly highly in our benchmark of "international outlook" - demonstrating its success in recruiting both students and academic staff from a competitive global talent pool, and collaborating in research with international partners. Success here is likely to drive future success."
