Dubai: – The UAE Office for Future Food Security has completed all preparations to welcome visitors at its booth at ALZAD - Food World, part of the third edition of the Mother of the Nation Festival, the UAE’s largest cultural event of its kind.

The event is being held at Abu Dhabi Corniche on March 22-31, 2018, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, and has the full support of Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of State for Future Food Security.

The design of the ALZAD - Food World booth is inspired by agricultural greenhouses and separated into six major areas that take guests on a journey of inspiration in the world of food and its production. The initiative highlights ways of sustaining and preserving food production, providing visitors with in-depth information on healthy and useful foods and the positive and negative eating habits that can be found in the community. It also reveals the most prominent issues of contemporary food security, briefing about the most important technologies and innovations within the food production and supply chain. It also imparts to visitors the responsibility of the community around food, with all aspects incorporating the latest technological media within an interactive framework.

The six major areas of the ALZAD - Food World pavilion are: ‘Legacy,’ a zone that highlights the link between food and Emirati life and culture; ‘Falaj,’ which provides information on the traditional method of management for water resources that have historically had a positive impact on the development of agriculture in the UAE, and ‘Locally Grown,’ which displays the growth of the nation’s food sector, showcasing products from UAE farms.

‘The main food elements and healthy nutrition methods’ section includes informative facts and figure about the nutritional value of a variety of food items, while ‘Current and future food challenges’ evaluates the choices and practices of nutrition that prevail in the community and that may lead to significant global challenges, such as an imbalance in food supply chains and food wastage. Finally, the ‘Innovate’ section highlights the more unconventional methods being used in the UAE and around the world to meet future food security challenges. This last platform provides visitors with a ‘lunchbox,’ the opportunity to prepare a healthy nutritious meal, in order to promote health and encourage appropriate food selection.

The ALZAD - Food World pavilion is a key component of the Mother of the Nation Festival, organised by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism to highlight the vision and generosity of the Mother of The Nation, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union. The Festival was conceived to underline the importance of family cohesion and promote a culture of cultural diversity and tolerance in UAE society.
