Sanabis, August 10, 2009: Tamkeen and the Tender Board have unveiled a new training initiative to promote e-Tendering which aims at training companies on utilizing the government tendering process online.

The e-Tendering programme calls on companies to enroll for the training on online tendering. With Bahrain going full-steam ahead with a range of online services, the Kingdom's e-tendering process has been at the forefront of efforts to maintain transparency and good governance values in all aspects of tenders and purchases.

The Kingdom's development boom is seeing more and more government interaction with the private sector making it imperative for companies to be able to use new technology tools such as the e-Tendering process to get their fair share of business opportunities.

Approximately 2000 tenders are processed annually, opening a huge potentially lucrative market for companies in the private sector.

The programme has already benefitted over 300 companies across the spectrum and is being vigorously pushed as Bahrain boosts its electronic services .

The e-tendering training programme will continue to serve establishments across the entire private sector spectrum assisting businesses to navigate the e-Tendering process, thereby opening doors to new business opportunities.

"The training will familiarise business owners and employees on the e-Tendering process - Participating companies will be selected on a first-come first-serve basis and we shall also take into account their active participation record in the process, " said Mr. Mohammed Bucheery, Senior Manager, Private Sector Support Department at Tamkeen.

"The training will offer company personnel an insight into the steps that enables the tendering process to be conducted via the internet. The system will automate the workflows of the tender preparation, tender opening, tender evaluation and tender awarding process. We see this as an exciting step towards infusing the ICT culture in the private sector in addition to making companies more responsive to new technology."
