R&M provides cabling infrastructure for voice and data transmissions as well as cabling for data center and security network

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - 25 June 2012 - Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss structured cabling specialist, today announced that it has successfully completed the implementation of a large scale cabling project for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The project involved end-to-end cabling for MOFA's new 23 storey office building in the capital city of Doha. Gulf Business Machines (GBM), R&M's partner in Qatar who has over 12  years of experience in R&M products, carried out the implementation and provided excellent support throughout the installation process.

The project which was aimed at establishing a robust and reliable data and voice network for the new building also included cabling for the new 300 sq-m data center. This data center will be accessed by MOFA's employees both in Qatar as well as those spread around the globe. Being a government agency, security is paramount and R&M's new cabling infrastructure supports the CCTV, Access Control and the RFID networks which are deployed for on-premise security.

Mr. Abdul Aziz Ameer Hussain, head of the networking unit at MOFA, was extremely impressed by the smooth and trouble-free implementation. This was possible due to two factors- R&M's innovative products which are easy to install and the excellent training provided to the implementation partner GBM. Every two years, all R&M partners such as GBM have to go through R&M certified installer and design trainings which ensure best practices and installation. "For MOFA, the main factors for deciding the networking requirements were the quality, reliability and good local support. We have a large network of people based in Qatar as well as worldwide who rely on our network and thus we cannot afford anything but the best. Thanks to R&M's quality products and excellent overall support from GBM, I am today very happy with my decision," said Mr. Abdul Aziz Ameer Hussain.

R&M provided Cat6 UTP and OM3 Fiber cables for the 10 Gb backbone for the office and security networks. In the datacenter, MPO/MTP connectors and adapters were used for pre-connected plug and play cabinet to cabinet connectivity. The complete copper network was fitted with R&M modular and angled 24 and 48 port copper patch panels. In addition, R&M security features were used to prevent wrongful and accidental plugging and unplugging of the network connectors.

Commenting on R&M's increasing focus on Qatar, Aslam Zuberi, Area Sales Director at R&M said, "Qatar is a very important market for us. We now have local sales support in Doha and we plan to strengthen our presence even more to provide faster technical support for our partners and customers. We already have some very good reference projects in Qatar and with our new data center offerings we plan to have an even stronger presence."

Mr. Martin Reichle, Owner and Executive Board Member of R&M, personally met Mr. Abdul Aziz Ameer Hussain during his official visit to Qatar last month to assure him once again of the full commitment to the company.

MOFA plans to further its relationship with R&M and has already marked out new projects. "We are currently considering standardization of our infrastructure with the R&M Cat6A ISO solution which is their latest technology for 10Gb connectivity. So, for any new projects or upgrades we look forward to use the latest technology available in the market," concluded Mr. Abdul Aziz Ameer Hussain.
