QNL Delegation Discovered Latest Advancements In Information Practices In UK

2 July 2014

Doha, Qatar: QATAR NATIONAL LIBRARY (QNL) continued to raise its global profile during the 'Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG) Conference' in the United Kingdom last week. The event, held at the University of Sussex from Monday 23rd to Wednesday 25th June, presented another opportunity for QNL staff members to keep abreast of the latest advancements in libraries and information practices. The conference also provided the library with international exposure, publicity and valuable networking opportunities.

The 'ARLG Conference' brought together library and information professionals to discuss knowledge acquisition, organisation and dissemination, especially in academic and research libraries. It also provided a focus and forum for the professional concerns and interests of everyone working in this area, and covered topics including new space, value added services and innovation in services.

Accompanying the conference was an exhibition featuring a number of libraries, organisations and institutions from around the world, including QNL as proud silver sponsors of the event.

Commenting on QNL's participation at the event, Dr Claudia Lux, Project Director of QNL, said: "Library and information professionals from all over the world gathered together for the 'ARLG Conference', providing QNL with an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest advancements and consider future challenges. As silver sponsors of the event, we were excited to support the development of academic and research libraries and, at the same time, learn a great deal from our peers."

"QNL continues to host library events, organise regional workshops and create regional and international partnerships; efforts that we hope will catapult Qatar on its journey to a knowledge-based economy," Dr Lux added.

QNL, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, is currently offering free online access to a vast collection of online resources including the latest bestsellers, classical works, concerts, top academic journals and documentaries.
