Principle-centred leadership key to organisational performance
DOHA, April 20, 2009: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and DOHALAND, leading with the futuristic vision of developing and promoting a new Qatar, have applied their forward-thinking vision to the corporate world by inviting the dynamic speaker and author Dr Stephen Covey to Qatar for his first visit to the country.
In the seminar, 'Managing Change in the Face of Crisis', Dr Covey will talk about how to incorporate principle-centred leadership into organisations and how it can contribute to organisational performance in times of change.
"Dr Covey is renowned throughout the world for making a positive difference to people's lives and offers invaluable advice to Qatar's future leaders on how to be a successful and effective leader. Qatar Foundation and DOHALAND are jointly hosting this seminar because Dr. Covey's views align with our shared values and mission to directly benefit individuals and the community," said Ghanim Al Nuaimi, Learning and Development Manager at Qatar Foundation.
"Our CSR 'Flourish' projects are aimed at helping and enabling people enrich their lives. DOHALAND is pleased to organise this event with Qatar Foundation, because Dr. Covey has devoted his working life to helping people reach their personal best, and this is also central to DOHALAND's mission. We are pleased that we are able to use this as an opportunity to help improve the lives of people in need outside Qatar, as the proceeds from this event will be given to Reach Out to Asia (ROTA)," said Imad Nached, Marketing Director, DOHALAND.
"If you want to make minor, incremental changes and improvements, work on practices, behaviour or attitude. But if you want to make significant, quantum improvement, work on paradigms," says Dr. Covey in his book, 'The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness'.
Dr Covey will take this thought forward during the seminar, engaging and encouraging the audience to apply it to their daily lives in order to improve their professional and personal associations. Dr Covey is also popularly known as the 15 million book bestselling author of 'The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People'.
"DOHALAND aims to provide a variety of opportunities for people in Qatar that encourage dynamic thinking and living. We believe that our most valuable resources are our people so we have an ambitious learning and development strategy for our employees. It is important that our careers continue to develop in every job we hold. We are, therefore, thrilled that Dr. Covey has travelled to Qatar, so we are able to learn from him and implement his advice in our lives," said Maryam Al Mansoori, HR Manager, DOHALAND.
The seminar will begin with the session on '4 elements of greatness', followed by '4 chronic problems' and '4 imperatives of leadership'; with subsequent sessions on Inspire trust, Clarify purpose, Align systems, and Unleash talent.
