Dubai, 25 April 2005: Equipped with Toshiba EasyGuard Advanced package for worry-free mobile computing for the busy executive, the new Toshiba Tecra A4 series is the state-of-the-art multimedia professional notebook for the corporate market.
Featuring the first wide-screen display in the Tecra family of notebooks, the new Tecra A4 series brings the benefits of seamless wireless connectivity and exceptional mobile performance to business computing, with state-of-the-art features, comprehensive expansion and complete mobility.
Users get powerful multimedia with a fixed DVD Super Multi Drive, allowing full multimedia playback and copying of CDs and DVDs at optimal speed. The latest ATI Mobility Radeon 300X graphics performance delivers media smoothly and effectively and is supported by Microsoft DirectX 9.0.
The Tecra incorporates all the standard connectivity ports required in the business world, including three USB ports and one PCMCIA Card slot, as well as TV-out for presentations and an i.Link port (IEEE 1394/Firewire).
In addition the Tecra A4 incorporates the new ExpressCard standard which delivers thinner, faster and lighter expansion capabilities. ExpressCards are less than half the size of equivalent PC cards, and use less power. This technology enables users to add hardware capabilities such as memory, wired/wireless communications cards and security devices by simply inserting these modules into their systems.
The Tecra A4 has great versatility thanks to the full APR-III docking support, which offers a wide range of interfaces for using peripherals and digital devices. The ARP III enables users to step back into the office and immediately adjust back to their office environment; this enables consistent and uncompromised mobile working.
To give mobile users increased peace of mind, the Tecra A4 also incorporates the newly announced Toshiba EasyGuard features, which enhance data security, increase system protection and provide easier connectivity.
A key feature of Toshiba's EasyGuard technology is its resilience to the rigours of daily use. Hard knocks or drops are a common risk when using notebooks away from the office, but with Toshiba's Shock Protection Design, the chassis is engineered to absorb shocks, protecting system components.
It uses a leading-edge 3D accelerometer to pick up sudden acceleration (such as in the case of it being dropped), whereupon hard disk drive (HDD) protection circuitry ensures that the drive heads are parked the instant something untoward happens, keeping data safe.
Security features include XD Bit technology (Execute Disable Bit) helps prevent buffer overflow virus attacks, as well as password utilities to protect the system, the hard drive and the BIOS.
Protect & Fix features include powerful Data Backup functionality, helping users easily store backup copies on an external hard disk drive, CD, DVD or some other storage format.
Connection features are powered by the pre-installed ConfigFree Connectivity Software with Toshiba's patented integrated Diversity Antenna Technology, which allows the Tecra A4 to consistently find the optimum connection for wireless networking, and automatically configure itself to the strongest network available ensuring stable performance every time.
