23 June 2005
eSolutions trading as MRO Software Middle East, the region's leading provider of strategic asset and service management solutions, has announced the go-live of its flagship solution MAXIMO 5.2 at Oman Wastewater Services Company (OWSC) one month ahead of schedule.

The implementation which was complete on May 15, 2005 included in-depth functionality of its Maintenance, Inventory and Purchasing modules, Workflow and seamless online integration to Oracle Financials to help OWSC achieve their long-term strategic objectives.

"Being an asset driven organization our long term objectives could only be achieved through best-of-breed rather than traditional ERP approach", said Sulaiman Al Qasmi, IT and Project Manager, OWSC. "We are investing heavily into upgrading and building first class infrastructure and therefore need a robust and well proven solution like MAXIMO to address our asset management needs".

"The implementation of MAXIMO will result in greatest possible efficiencies from the early days for OWSC," said Oliver Schulz, Sales and Marketing Manager, eSolutions trading as MRO Software Middle East. "Our strategy is to deliver flexible and complete asset and service management solutions in a unified offering through MAXIMO which is recognized as world market leader. MRO is extremely delighted to welcome OWSC to its Middle East end user community."

Majority of Oman's and the UAE's utility sector is already using MAXIMO successfully and so are another 150 asset driven organisations in the region. There are almost 5,000 end users for MAXIMO in the Utility sector in the Middle East alone.

OWSC has been established in 2002 for the responsibility of providing sewerage services to people and communities residing in Muscat governorate. In addition to its operating responsibilities, OWSC rehabilitates, repairs and maintains the regional sewerage systems. OWSC has undertaken an ambitious program of wastewater system capital improvements and new investments with estimated expenditures for fiscal years 2002 through 2017 of more than US$ 1 billion. Given the significant value and critical nature of OWSC's assets the company since its formation in 2002 embraced an asset management initiative that was implemented simultaneously with its back office accounting application.

"The system needed to be flexible enough to support operation and maintenance of a diverse portfolio of assets," said Mr. Suleiman Al Qasmi. "Plans called for managing everything from the production assets such as pumps, valves, electrical components; facility assets such as HVAC units, roll-up doors, roofs; and fleet assets such as cranes, trucks and electric vehicles. The maintenance and operations teams started using MAXIMO to maintain all the assets used to remove pollutants from wastewater that originates in homes and businesses in and around greater Muscat."
