Le Royal Meridien cooks its way through Dubai Summer Surprises

10 chefs from award-winning resort to host public masterclasses

Dubai, July 1, 2004: Ten chefs from the award-winning kitchens at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa will participate in the opening ceremony for Dubai Summer Surprises, before performing public masterclasses and hosting a Junior Chef competition from July 1 - 7 at the BurJuman centre.

During DSS, the chefs will perform live cooking shows from 4pm to 10pm on July 3 and July 7, so audiences can learn from the experts, as well as taste some of the chefs' gastronomic masterpieces at the end of each demonstration.

Executive chef Patrick Lannes will lead his team in giving a step-by-step guide to the preparation of pastries and desserts.

Meanwhile, from July 1 to July 7, Le Royal Meridien will also be running a Junior Chef competition at BurJuman. Youngsters will battle their way through various activities such as creating a five-course set menu, the art of wedding cakes, petit fours and canapes.

Lannes said: "We are delighted to be able to encourage young people to experiment and explore the world of international cuisine, as well as sharing some of the secrets of a five-star hotel kitchen with the public."

The Dubai Summer Surprises inauguration ceremony will take place at BurJuman on July 1, and the Junior Chef competition will run from 4pm to 10pm every day from July 1 to 7.
