Amman-Jordan: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology, held the first of what may become a series of instructional seminars and workshops, on September 2010, at the Princess Sumaya University of Technology (PSUT).
The event was held in collaboration with Mada Communication, who has provided the University with internet to cover the IEEE workshops and educational sessions with a tool to connect to the internet. The whole event was about the Open Code System, and how new businesses and students could benefit from it.
The Open Code System provides internet users with the Open Code of a certain internet softwares for free. Thus offering better internet access, higher reliability and lower cost. This technology will help students and businesses to gain access to wide ranging and more varied internet softwares in any field they need.
The purpose of the IEEE seminar and workshop was to help bridge the gap between the educational and theoretical knowledge and its practical application, attended by mostly 4th and 5th year communication engineering students.
"We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to be exposed to real world exhibits of the technology that we are learning about in the classroom," said one of the 4th year student at PSUT. "At first I was not sure how informative this seminar would be, but I was pleasantly surprised".
As a result of the enthusiastic turnout, IEEE announced that they hope to continue to offer additional seminars and workshops in the future. Mr. Charles Hage, Mada's CEO also emphasized that "Mada supports all activities that aim at expanding youth horizons".
Adding that " this workshop is a great opportunity for the students to see how the technology that they are learning about in theory, is actually used by Mada on a day to day basis. Many of the students here at PSUT are going to lead the way in the future, and we hope that one day they will build upon and improve upon the technology that we are currently developing."
Mada Communications is a leading Communications service provider in the Middle East. Mada Group currently operates in Jordan, Lebanon, and Kuwait with future plans to expand into the Middle East and North African region (MENA).
