Cairo - Barclays Bank Egypt announced the appointment of Halla Sakr as Managing Director of the bank. Sakr officially assumed her responsibilities on January 1, 2016, making her the first woman to head Barclays Bank Egypt.
Halla has a proven track record spanning over 30 years in the banking industry. Throughout her career, she has held various senior positions in Retail, Corporate and Risk Managment in both Egypt and the Middle East. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo.

She is a seasoned banker with excellent leadership qualities and a long history of success in delivering results. She is very well known and highly respected in the market and fully understands the key drivers of the Egyptian market. Her appointment is expected to ensure continuity and achievement of the strategic goals that Barclays Bank Egypt has set itself."

Tarek will continue in his role as a General Manager and as an Executive Director of the Board of Barclays Bank Egypt.
