40 per cent of the workforce in the next 2 years will spend half of their working hours out of the office
Wednesday, 19 February 2003:
“Mobile workforce in the Middle East is becoming a nudging reality and this has generated a critical need for a new generation of mobility products and solutions that will enable organizations to integrate mobile workers with business critical resources,” stated an industry expert. “There is going to be a marked shift towards mobility in business in coming years, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has created solutions that put us at the forefront of this massive transformation in working lifestyles.” said Colin Britto, Sales Manager, Large Enterprises, FSC Middle East.
Recent research by the US firm Gartner has projected that within two years, almost 40 per cent of all regular employees will spend half their working hours away from the office. IDC forecasts that the total spend for the mobile solutions market will increase from US$ 1.4 billion in 2000 to US$ 25 billion in 2004.
IT industry professionals got the opportunity to get a close-range view of the future applications of mobile technology at two recent seminars organized by Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi under the topic “Independence with Mobility Solutions”. Experts from FSC, Intel, Microsoft and International Data Corporation (IDC) demonstrated at these seminars the growing trend of working from multiple locations, with a focus on FSC’s industry-leading mobile solutions.
“The Fujitsu Siemens Computers seminars highlighted how today’s organisations depend on secure and guaranteed access to timely, relevant and reliable information,” said Britto. “FSC believes that mobility is the pillar of the new business environment with its ability to access key data any time and from any device or network. However, this mobility needs to be supported by business critical computing, the second cornerstone of modern business, which allows the delivery of highly available, scaleable, secure and manageable access to mission critical business information.”
Fujitsu Siemens Computers mobility solutions are focused on five strategic areas that address specific business mobility needs: security, manageability, messaging, infrastructure and access and business information access.
Participants at the seminars had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with FSC’s mobility products, including PDAs, notebooks and tablet PCs; wireless and infrastructure products; security solutions, business critical computing products and business applications from partners such as SAP, Microsoft, Siebel and Oracle.
