Dubai, UAE: Art enthusiasts rejoice – Dubai Art Season is finally here! A rich agenda of art, creativity and music will put Dubai’s rich cultural melting pot and its rising status as a global creative hub at centre stage.

Few places reflect the nomadic ethos of Dubai’s art calendar, across time and traditions, quite like the history-steeped Al Seef and Souk Madinat Jumeirah or the urban-industrial mashup Boxpark. Visitors can expect entrancing installations, performances and exhibitions exploring Arab heritage, as well as digital shows, wellness experiences, kids’ activities, painting and photography.

The 2023 edition of Dubai Art Season will run throughout March, providing ample opportunities for you to bring out your inner artist or art critic.   

Al Seef

Al Seef welcomes residents and tourists to enjoy a variety of artistic pursuits in the historical heart of Dubai. The creek-front location provides the perfect backdrop to showcase artists from the UAE and around the world.   From 1 March till 22 April, art-inspired zones will spread across Al Seef charming alleyways and sandstone structures under the central theme, ‘Walk Into Art – Follow the Art Beats’.

The photography zone will host a gallery of award-winning pieces, while the painting zone will be adorned with creations from local artists displayed in colourful trolleys. Sculptures, light structures, paintings, photography, artisans showcase and music, this artist-led adventure is the perfect opportunity to walk into art and take a stroll around Al Seef.

 Around the Heritage area, discover the spectacle of The Seven Cultural Art Zone, which features scent art, sand art, wood, spices and flavours, beading, clay art, and weaving. The Kids Art Zone welcomes children of all ages to express themselves through engaging avenues, such as painting, sand art, photo art, clay art and music. Those looking to surprise their senses can whet their appetite at the Flavours Zone across the destination’s restaurants or over spirted melodies at the Music Art Zone.

See creations made right before your eyes at the Live Art Zone, or marvel at stunning stills at the Photography Art Gallery Zone and illuminated creations at the Light Art Zone. The Illusion Art Zone at the Museum of Illusions awaits to trick your mind.

Those with a love of cultural and sophisticated artforms can venture to the main events area to find the Sculptures Art Gallery Zone, Painting Art Gallery Zone, and the Calligraphy Art Zone, as well as the Art of Living Zone at Hilton Hotels. Before you go, be sure not to miss out on The Sikka – Pop Art Zone mural at the Dhow Deck and the engaging “Tune Me In” piece near Nablus.

Souk Madinat Jumeirah

The iconic Souk Madinat Jumeriah seamlessly blends the past and present. It’s both a traditional Arabian bazaar with labyrinthine corridors where merchants sell spices, local handicrafts and jewellery as well as the home of a dynamic and cosmopolitan food scene. Be transported to the future in this old-world environment at the Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA), a multisensory digital art storytelling experience.

From 1 to 31 March, ToDA is organising a buzzing calendar of immersive digital shows, captivating concerts and zen wellness experiences exclusively for the art season. From sound healing sessions to Tibetan singing bowls and immersive meditation, ToDA turns wellness into a holistic art expression.

Dialling up the volume, ToDA will be a hosting a series of digital shows and concerts for art aficionados. See over 50 works by the world’s most notorious graffiti artist come to life through sounds and projections around you, and every detail maximised, at the Banksy 360 Art of the Rebel digital show. The self-proclaimed ‘unauthorised’ immersive experience is created with Bristol-based author and lecturer, Marc Leverton, and crafted by renowned audio-visual designers.  

For a touch of art history, learn about Claude Monet and Henri Rousseau’s art revolution at the Klimt & The Impressionists. Masterpieces by six legendary painters will move across the surfaces around you, submerging you in one of the world’s most impactful art movements.

Boxpark

Boxpark’s distinct aesthetic and urban theme will serve as a captivating backdrop for an array of visual art exhibitions, including painting, sculpture, and photography. The unique destination, at the heart of the buzzing Jumeirah neighbourhood, is transforming into an outdoor urban art gallery that the whole family can enjoy.

Wander the destination to encounter a series of live performances and interactive experiences from 1 March to 22 April. Little ones can get imaginative and craft their own creations at the kid’s art workshop, while the adults roam the vibrant art market. Expect art painting, photo galleries, music, and a high-spirited atmosphere that’s sure to engage visitors of all ages.
