Company also showcasing new additions to the Stylus Pro range which include printers suited for outdoor advertising and art reproduction tasks

Epson has announced that its product showcase at Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East 2009, which began yesterday (Sunday, February 15, 2009) at the Dubai Airport Expo, includes its latest range of large format printers and new additions to its Stylus Pro series.

This year, Epson is showcasing its new range of high-performing large format inkjet printers which incorporates Epson's new UltraChrome GS, an 8-colour eco-solvent type ink set. The new ink set importantly does not spread harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and is the first major eco-solvent type ink set to be launched without the need for a hazard symbol. Epson's new large format printers provide one of the most cost-effective, fast and flexible printing solutions for design professionals in the Point of Sale (POS), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information System (GIS) and corporate markets.

Epson's product line-up from the Stylus Pro series includes the Stylus Pro 11880, Stylus Pro 7880, Stylus Pro 9900, Stylus Pro GS 6000 and Stylus Pro 7900, all of which produce high-quality final prints intended for the fine art, photography and proofing markets via a unique 8-color ink technology called UtraChrome. UltraChrome is Epson's latest generation of pigment ink that incorporates eight new colour pigments, including a new three-level black technology, which significantly increases the quality of professional color and black and white prints. The UltraChrome line includes UtraChrome Hi-Gloss2, UltraChrome K3, and UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta.

The 64-inch Stylus Pro 11880, which uses the UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta, is the first Epson printer to integrate the new Micropiezo thin film piezo print head with 360 nozzles per inch for each of nine active ink cartridges. It can print barcode and text on partially used paper rolls to record the quantity of paper left and identify media type, thus allowing users to switch between paper types and rolls for varying jobs.

The 24-inch Stylus Pro 7880, which uses UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta, uses an Ethernet interface to achieve fast and efficient processing speeds and features a print head which delivers sharp detail and accurate colour reproduction when combined with Epson's Super Halftone technology.

The Stylus Pro GS6000, a 64" large format printer with an 8-colour ink set, is a printer designed for both indoor and outdoor applications. The new ink set allows production of high-impact, high-quality and durable prints enabling printers, copy-shops and sign shops to extend their business into higher quality demanding applications such as airport and exhibition graphics, as well as art-reproduction. Furthermore, the Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 enables operators to switch easily between a range of different coated and non-coated substrates such as vinyl, making it an ideal, flexible production solution for multiple commercial applications.

The 24" Stylus Pro 7900 and 44" Stylus Pro 9900 set a new standard for the professional large format printer market as they offer an improved ink formulation, a new printer mechanism and a raft of new technologies, making them ideal for production and contract proofing, as well as the highest quality fine-art and photographic applications. They will also enable printers to extend their business into the demanding packaging proofing and flexographic markets. In addition, an optional calibration and verification system, the Epson SpectroProofer™, means the Stylus Pro 7900 and the Stylus Pro 9900 can be used for remote proofing. The new printer mechanism implemented in the Stylus Pro 7900 and 9900 builds on Epson's MicroPiezo TFP™ (Thin Film Piezo) print head.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, "The Sign and Graphics Imaging exhibition has always proved to be a fruitful event for Epson, which is reflected by the fact that we have participated in all previous editions of this event. This year too, our product showcase targeted at the sign and graphics segment has been well received, mainly because of the technological adoptions we have made to provide superior print quality, while offering cost efficiency."
