DUBAI- January 28, 2015

Aster DM Healthcare, the leading Dubai-based healthcare conglomerate, announced opening of Aster Hospital-Mankhool, the largest Aster Hospital under the Group in the UAE. The 100-bed Hospital, located in Mankhool, Bur Dubai, will be the first among the five Aster DM Hospitals which are being commissioned presently to cater to the increasing requirements for the UAE population. The Hospital will open its doors to the community from January 29, 2015, and will be officially inaugurated in the first quarter of 2015.

Over 35 Aster Medical Centres and 10 Access clinics in the UAE concentrate on looking after the primary health aspects of patients. There is a growing need for a facility, which is capable to look after secondary and some tertiary level care for patients by providing them a complete system of care under one umbrella healthcare setup. Over 300 doctors are working across the Aster and Access facilities. The new hospital will promote a team-based practice to help the patients get treatment plans that are verified by a team of experts to ensure that the best plan of action is followed to improve medical outcomes.

Spanning across an expanse of 1,90,000 square feet, the Aster Hospital-Mankhool will provide routine medical, surgical, obstetrics, paediatric, neonatal, dialysis, endoscopy and emergency care services. The advanced facility has been set up with the latest medical and diagnostic technologies across multi-specialty departments.

These details were provided at a press conference organised on the sidelines of Arab Health Congress 2015. Aster DM Healthcare is the Platinum Sponsor of the Congress. The number of units under the Group is set to grow to 300 units by the year 2017 as outlined in our vision plan," he added.

"The old Al Rafa hospital was almost synonymous with Maternity care running a very busy Obstetrics/ Gyneacology department with large number of deliveries every month. As an extension of this department, the new Aster Hospital-Mankhool will have a specialty mother and neonatal care unit. The unit will provide tertiary level care to mothers, who face complications during pregnancy or who have premature babies, especially critically-ill neonates, since these services are not commonplace here yet. The advanced neonatal intensive care unit is well-equipped to admit premature and low birth-weight babies. Our old Al Rafa hospital will subsequently be converted into an IVF and women's health centre which will complement the hospital further and provide a space that women can reach out for most women's illnesses such as general well being, wellness, and illness related needs," she elaborated.

"The new Hospital will provide inpatient services to those seeking long-term care and treatment of chronic diseases, rare medical conditions and afflictions of the elderly, focusing on new cures, treatment methods and studies on such diseases. The Hospital has been set up with five world-class surgical theatres dedicated to neuro, gastrointestinal, neonatal, orthopedic and general surgical treatments including laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries," Ms. Alisha added.

Centrally located on Mankhool Street in Bur Dubai, the Hospital facilitates easy accessibility and ample parking space. The facility offers round-the-clock emergency services, day care surgical services, and 24-hour functioning pharmacy outlet, in addition to full-fledged diagnostic services with advanced Radiology and Imaging Services along with a full spread of laboratory services. The facility is enabled with cutting-edge equipment including 1.5 Tesla MRI, 16 slice Spiral CT Scanner, 4D Ultra-Sound-Scanner, and Digital X Rays. .
