Company Showcases Diverse Product Portfolio Including UPS Systems at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010

Study Indicates UPS Market Revenues in Middle East to Touch US$353.2 million by 2011

Dubai-UAE: 19 October, 2010: APC by Schneider Electric, global leaders in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced an increased activity in the data centre sector, one of its major growth drivers, will help the company register strong performance in the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) equipment market.

The announcement was made during its participation at the GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010, the region's largest ICT event that opened on 17 October at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

A leader in network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI) solutions, APC by Schneider Electric is showcasing diverse products including its uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems at its stand in 'Hall 1 - Booth E1-40' at the event that is expected to attract more than 133,000 visitors.

Building on the success of last year's three-step guided tour, visitors to the APC by Schneider Electric's stand are being offered demonstration and technical details of the company's key data centre and power protection solutions. The stand comprises four predefined areas of hot aisle containment systems, APC software solutions for the data centre, data centre cooling solutions and security as well as environmental monitoring solutions.

Christian Bertrand, Vice-President, Middle East and Africa, said: "GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK continues to remain a key event for the IT vendors in the region. We believe this is an excellent lead generation platform that offers APC by Schneider Electric an opportunity to demonstrate product capabilities and showcase latest technologies in the data centre space.

"Buoyed by the incremental rise in regional IT spending and a promising industry growth rate projected till 2011, several new initiatives in the form of product innovations and market expansion strategies will continue to drive our leadership position across all aspects of the data centre environment in the Middle East and Africa geographies."

A recent Frost and Sullivan market research has identified that revenue forecast for the total Middle East market for UPS products is set to grow and reach US$353.2 million by 2011 from an estimated US$318.1 million in 2010, an annual growth rate of 13.9 per cent.

Rising power densities, unprecedented cooling issues, increased energy demands and soaring prices make power and cooling a customer's central focus. APC provides protection against some of the leading causes of downtime, data loss, hardware damage, and power issues due to temperature. Customers are offered unique solutions through its technological innovations and sound return on investment business models.

Bertrand added: "Our bouquet of consultancy services and project management solutions will meet the IT industry's increasing dependence on cooling systems to maintain the efficiency of high-density servers in an environmentally responsible manner. In established markets such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, we expect the amount spent on cooling and powering the existing installed base of servers to exceed 70 per cent of what is spent on purchasing new servers in 2010."

Geographically, the company has expanded its operations to Lebanon recently, seeking to capitalise on industry estimates of a combined market of US$50 million for UPS products in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.

APC has set industry standards for quality, innovation and support. Its comprehensive solutions, designed for both home and corporate environments, improve the manageability, availability and performance of sensitive electronic, network, communications and industrial equipment of all sizes.

As an advocate for Green IT, APC is committed to conducting its business in an environmentally responsible manner while generating interest in its energy efficient enterprise solutions.
