Techiesoft pledges USD 1 million worth of structural design tools for university
ALHOSN University's Center for Research and Consultancy has today (Monday, March 28, 2011) held a seminar on advanced building design software at the university's Male Campus under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Techiesoft FZ LLC, one of the most integrated IT, CAD/Engineering and Project Management solutions providers in the Middle East, showcased the features and capabilities of four of its top structural design tools during the event.
Titled 'The New Generation of Building Design Softwares,' the seminar kicked off with opening remarks by Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University, who inaugurated a new initiative called the "Clean Engineering Pledge," advocating the boycott or utilization of pirated programs by signees among attending Engineers and Engineering students. A presentation on 'The Importance of Simulation for Engineers' was also delivered by Prof. Basem Alzahabi, from Kettering University, USA.
"We are very pleased with Professor Sabouni's initiative of the Clean Engineering Pledge. The message sent to Engineers and Engineering students joining the workplace is that integrity comes first, and commitment to such a pledge by steering clear of pirated software and disengaging from any team that does not abide by it is the best way to display a strong work ethic. This will create a healthy environment for the benefit and safety of engineers, clients, and the community at large," said Mr. Ajaya Kumar, Techiesoft CEO.
Among the Techiesoft products presented were ETABS, the industry standard for building analysis and design software for almost 30 years; SAFE, a design tool for concrete floor and foundation systems; CSiCOL, a comprehensive software package used for the analysis and design of columns; and SAP2000, a highly-integrated general-purpose structural program. Techiesoft pledged to provide USD 1 million worth of free software to advance ALHOSN University's building design programs.
