Abu Dhabi, UAE - 13 January  2016 - The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) said today that it has appointed Sherwood Dodge as Global Head of Private Equities, in its Private Equities Department, effective immediately.

In this role, Mr. Dodge will be responsible, together with members of the senior management team, for setting the private equity strategy for ADIA, overseeing the activities of its private equity programme and for making investment recommendations to ADIA's Investment Committee. His mandate will encompass investments in private equity funds, principal investments, secondary fund investments and private credit. He will report to Hamad Shahwan Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of ADIA's Private Equities Department.

Mr. Dodge joins ADIA after spending over 25 years with GE, where he held a number of senior positions across its financial services businesses globally. Most recently he served as Deputy CEO and a board member of Hyundai Capital Services and Hyundai Card, the successful joint ventures in auto finance and credit cards between Hyundai Motors and GE.

Between 2009 and 2013, Mr. Dodge was the CEO of the equity business of GE Capital, Americas, where he led its private equity activities, while also serving as Head of Corporate Development at GE Capital, Americas, between 2011 and 2013. Prior to this, he had responsibility for GE Equity's investments in the aviation and energy industries and for equity co-investments with the customers of GE Capital's leveraged lending business.

Between 1999 and 2005, Mr. Dodge was based in London, with responsibility for overseeing GE Capital's private equity activities in Europe. Before this, he served as President of GE Capital Thailand, where he and his team bought and built businesses providing auto leasing, sales finance equipment finance and credit cards. Mr. Dodge began his career with GE in 1988.

Commenting on the appointment, Hamad Shahwan Al Dhaheri, Executive Director, Private Equities Department, said: "With a distinguished career in private equity investing around the world, Sherwood is a valuable addition to an already strong team. His deep and wide ranging experience will play a leading role in further developing ADIA's activities in the private equity space."

ADIA's Private Equities Department invests in private equity globally through externally managed funds and through investments in private companies, typically alongside external partners. Primary fund investment activities are broadly organised geographically across North America, Europe and Emerging Markets, while strategies such as venture capital, private credit and distressed credit invest with a global mandate. The direct secondary and principal investing activities also operate worldwide on a global platform. The result is a portfolio that is diversified by geography, industry, stage, size and timeframe.

Mr. Dodge is a U.S. citizen and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Denison University, Ohio, USA.
