Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik-issued Royal Decree No. 60/2021 amending some provisions of the Foreigners Residence Law.

The decree came after reviewing the Basic Law of the State, the Foreigners Residence Law issued by Royal Decree No. 95/16 and after being presented to the Council of Oman.

The first article stipulated: making the attached amendments to the aforementioned Foreigners residence law.

Amendments to some provisions of the Foreigners Residence Law

Article (1)

The text of Article (14) of the aforementioned Foreigners Residence Law shall be replaced by the following text:

Article (14)

The Inspector-General determines the types of residence of foreigners in the Sultanate, the duration and conditions for granting each of them, and the rules and procedures for renewing them. The granting of residence to any of the spouses entails granting it to the wife and his children residing with him in accordance with what is determined by the executive regulations of this law, unless any of these is granted a residence of his own, and the foreigner must 15 days before the expiry of his residence permit, he may request its renewal, and granting or renewing residence may be refused without giving reasons.

Article (2)

The text of Article (40) of the aforementioned Foreigners Residence Law shall be replaced by the following text:

Article (40)

The fees for entry visas, residence permits, traffic licenses and their renewal, and all fees that must be paid in implementation of the provisions of this law and the regulations and decisions issued in implementation thereof, shall be determined by a decision of the Inspector General - after the approval of the Ministry of Finance.

The second article stipulated canceling everything that contradicts the attached amendments or contradicts their provisions.
