Mubasher: Uber on Tuesday announced that it has hired Nelson J. Chai to be the company’s chief financial officer (CFO), filling the position that has been vacant since 2015.

Previously, Chai was a president at CIT Group and CFO for Merrill Lynch & Co.

“Uber, which anticipates filing for an IPO next year, has been without a CFO since Brent Callinicos left three years ago,” CNN reported.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, said that it took her a long time to choose an experienced and thoughtful person as Chai to fill the position.

"He will be a great partner for me and the entire management team as we move towards becoming a public company," Khosrowshahi added.
