Amman - Saudi Prince Sheikh Talal bin Badr Al Saud was on Saturday elected as president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees (UANOC), replacing Prince Nawaf bin Faisal.

His unanimous election took place at a meeting of the UANOC general assembly held at an Amman hotel under the patronage of HRH Pince Faisal Bin Al Hussein, member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC).

Minister of Education, Mohamed Thunaibat, represented Prince Faisal at the meeting.

Addressing the gathering after his election, Sheikh Talal pledged to do his utmost in the service of Arab sports.

The conference, attended by a number of Jordanian and Arab youth and sports officials, focused on the committee's strategies for the coming period as well as programs and activities of the UANOC in order to upgrade Arab Sports.
