Leading global electronics manufacturer Sharp launched new air-conditioners 'Orchid' with unique 'all-aluminium heat exchanger' and 'plasmacluster ion' technology on Sunday.
"Orchid series of air-conditioners weigh 40 per cent less than conventional ones, which means easier installation and lower cost of maintenance," said Syed Zahir Hussain, product manager at Sharp Middle East.
The guest of honour of the event was Yamanaka Shinichi, deputy head of mission at the Japanese Embassy. During the evening, Bhim Shankar, general manager of Al Hashar Group, introduced guests to the history of Sharp and its operations. "Each year 50,000 units of Sharp products are being sold in Oman," he said.
After speech by Eiji Taninaka, director of sales at Sharp Middle East, who thanked Sharp's customers for their continuous support, Hussain unveiled details about the new series of Sharp ACs.
While conventional heat exchangers are made of copper and aluminium, Orchid series use only all-aluminium heat exchangers. As a result, not only is the weight of the air-conditioner lower but also volume of refrigerant is reduced by approximately 50 per cent. "Less refrigerant means even greater environmental performance.
All-aluminium heat exchangers are energy efficient, cost effective and have longer durability against salt corrosion," said Hussain.
Another feature of Orchid series is plasmacluster ion technology, which helps to remove airborne contaminants and mold, reduce adhering odours and block the growth of mold inside the air-conditioners.
It also has selectable airflow including super-jet and coanda. The first provides strong, direct blast of air that instantly cools a person's body down, the other delivers soft, indirect airflow that creates comfortable living space.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Taninaka said, "Sharp is planning to launch a new refrigerator, wash machine and LCD in Oman within next two months.
