Iran can triple crude extraction by drilling three new wells in the joint Nosrat oilfield, said the deputy head of Nasr platform.
Sadeq Tavassoli added on Saturday that Iran extracts 3,200 barrels of oil per day from the field. "With the completion of drilling operations in the three wells, the field's output will reach 10,000 bpd," he said.
Tavasoli noted that the field's exploration activities have been executed successfully. "We are waiting for the installation of drilling rigs," he said.
Jointly shared with the UAE, Nosrat oilfield is located 35 kilometers southeast of Sirri Island in the Persian Gulf. The part of the field located in Emirati territory is named Fateh.
Production from the field began in 1986.
The field has five production wells. The field's oil is transferred to Nasr platform via a 12-inch offshore pipeline.
Located 14 kilometers off Sirri Island, Nasr platform collects oil produced from Alvand, Dena, Seyvand and Nosrat fields, and delivers them to the island's establishments.
