MUSCAT -- The National Bank of Oman's (NBO) HR Learning and Development (HRLD) Division has had a very successful year of performance in 2009. The division has to date conducted over 610 Training Programmes, trained 5,799 staff members out of which 5,405 were Omanis, constituting 93.21 per cent of the total number and organised more than 12,000 training hours for staff members. Nasser Said al Bahantah, NBO's Chief Human Resources Officer, has outlined the learning and development strategy as part of the HR strategy for two years starting 2010 till 2012 with four focus groups such as management trainees, young high potential staff, middle level managers and senior management.
In 2010, the division's focus will be devoted to improving process knowledge and skills. All training sessions will focus on even higher standards, to further improve knowledge and skills- to equip and train staff to successfully face all possible emerging competitive situations. Efforts will be made to offer training to all staff members every year with equal balance to follow up post training behaviour. Salim Abdullah al Barwani, NBO's Head - HR Learning and Development Division said: "At NBO staff development is a priority. The bank's management is committed to ensuring staff are regularly developed and fully trained and to handle their responsibilities and take up challenges. We believe human resource development and recognition is the key to progress".
