Doha: Nasser Bin Khaled, one of Qatar's leading business conglomerates, has recently launched a tailor-made SAP training programme, aiming at building an internal team of experts that would ensure the smooth and the successful running of the SAP technology throughout its various operations. This initiative reflects NBK's commitment to continuously upgrade its systems providing, thus, its stakeholders with enhanced and innovative solutions and services. It also reflects the high importance NBK places on developing the skills of its staff members.
The NBK HR department in collaboration with the Information Systems department launched the SAP User Training Programme in April 2009. This programme aims to empower current users and share their knowledge with their colleagues in a classroom environment. Approximately 12 employees, from various business lines were identified as NBK's "Key Users". Those "Key Users" were named "Best Users" and have attended, in turn, the "Train the Trainer" programme whereby they were tasked with spreading the knowledge and know-how of SAP amongst other staff members at NBK, accordingly awarded ratings which reflected their effectiveness.
NBK DCEO Sheikha Hanadi Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani distributed the training certificates and said: "Developing our people's skills is a pillar of NBK's corporate culture; having a solid team of experts at the core of our business operations is crucial for the continued success of our organisation. We pride ourselves on the initiatives that are championed by our HR department whose members go to great extent to ensure that our staffs' career path is marked with innovation and learning."
Ayman Khaleel, NBK CCO said: "Since the implementation of SAP in NBK, we have been driven to achieve the maximum benefits from this world class system. Over the past 6 months much attention has been given to addressing system issues while, at the same time, it was recognised that a critical aspect of the programme is the skills and knowledge development by training the users themselves."
"Many options were considered and debated with key stakeholders including bringing external professional consultants to provide training. SAP is fully customised to the needs and requirements of each customer and so we had to build a team comprising of internal NBK trainers who are highly familiar with our specific systems and configuration.
Since user training is an ongoing requirement we needed to develop a sustainable solution which provides for new NBK people joining the business, people changing jobs and people requiring re-training and follow-up training." added Khaleel.
