The first phase of the Heart of Doha project, being developed by Msheireb Properties, targets handover for occupancy on schedule by the end of 2012, an official source told Zawya.

Phase one of the projects includes construction of the Diwan Amiri Quarter, a Heritage Quarter, 12 residential buildings, two commercial towers and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel with 158 rooms and 91 apartments. Also included in this phase are a multi-purpose cultural forum, a shopping street, townhouses, a school and a mosque.

The entire project covers 350,000 square meters, including 120,000 square meters of open space, and 900 new residential units, at a total cost of USD 5.5 billion, according to Zawya.
