Abu Dhabi, Feb 13th, 2012 (WAM) -- The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) at the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has granted Masdar Institute the accreditation for its post-graduate Chemical Engineering Program.
The Institute, in an announcement on Monday said three-member External Review Team (ERT) had completed an extensive assessment of the Chemical Engineering Program in September 2011. The delegation held meetings with the faculty and professional staff in the affiliated Chemical Engineering Program, in addition to visiting classrooms, library and research laboratories. It was received by Prof. Youssef Shatilla, Associate Dean for Graduate Education and the Chemical Engineering Faculty at Masdar Institute. The review covered Masdar Institutes governance, policies and procedures, quality assurance measures, education program, fiscal resources and community engagement. Prof. Youssef Shatilla said: "Accreditation plays an important role in the recognition of academic programs by prospective students, their families and the community. The accreditation for the Chemical Engineering Program by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reflects the confirmation that Masdar Institutes academic excellence is on par with international standards. We are delighted to receive this accreditation for our program that is backed by competent faculty and other academic and financial resources. We thank the external team and the higher authorities for their confidence in the academic infrastructure at Masdar Institute."Masdar Institute has already received Initial accreditation for seven of its Masters programs including Computing and Information Science; Electrical Power Engineering; Engineering Systems and Management; Materials Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Microsystems Engineering, as well as Water and Environmental Engineering.
