OTTAWA, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah departed Ottawa on Monday night upon finalizing a two-day visit during which he opened the new Kuwaiti Embassay in Ottawa and held talks with state officials.
Sheikh Mohammed is expected to visit London on his way back to Kuwait.
The foreign minister opened last night the new headquarters of the Embassy of Kuwait, a ceremony attended by a number of Arab diplomats and Canadian officials.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammad praised the good relationships between Kuwait and Canada, noting that both countries are parallel in believing in humanitarian values and principles, respecting international law, and supporting UN resolutions.
He also praised and recalled the Canadian support for Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1990.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Canada Dr. Mesaed Al-Haroon held a banquet in honor of Sheikh Mohammed, which was attended by embassy staff, doctors, and Kuwaiti students in Canada, where they discussed issues facing Kuwaiti students there.
During the visit, the minister held talks with Canadian ministers of foreign affairs, international trade, international cooperation, and speaker of the Canadian Senate, in which they touched on issues of the Middle East, the Iranian nuclear issue, commercial and cultural relationships, and other issues of common concern.
Sheikh Mohammed also attended parts of the Canadian parliament session.
