Tehran - Experts at the Membrane Processes Group of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) have managed to design and fabricate the first 2521spiral-wound membrane module in Iran.
This module has been designed with the objective of separating carbon dioxide from the synthesis gas stream and the first spiral-wound reverse osmosis (RO) membrane module which operates similarly to other modules, SHANA reported on Tuesday.
The technical knowhow used for designing and fabricating 2521spiral-wound membrane module was monopolized by an American company. Now, Iran can supply this product across the Middle East and the world.
The 2521spiral-wound membrane module was developed following widespread studies on foreign models of membrane modules.
Design and fabrication of the first RO membrane module measuring 2.5 inches in diameter and 21 inches in length has been another achievement by the PRTC researchers. This module is used in water desalination.
