Surgical patients will have less exposure to hospital-acquired infections, thanks to a unique modular operating room installed in the new Zulekha Hospital here, officials said.
The new 75-bed health facility covering 82,000 square feet has been opened in Al Nahda by the Zulekha Healthcare Group.
The centre will provide 24-hour emergency and trauma care, an ambulance service and a pharmacy in an area that straddles Dubai and Sharjah.
The speciality departments are cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, plastic surgery and laparoscopy as well as general surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and dermatology.
The group plans a cardiac catheterisation lab. It will also arrange international tie-ups with world-class institutions.
The group also plans to start clinics and pharmacies in all the emirates, adding to the medical centres in Dhaid, Karama and Al Qusais.
"Beyond the technology and the specialists, there is something more the magic of a caring touch," said Dr Zulekha Daud, founder of the Zulekha Healthcare Group.
"At Zulekha, we strive to humanise medical problems through patient education and a caring environment."
Along with a competent team of doctors, the hospital will contain some of the most advanced facilities and equipment to ensure the best treatment.
The hospital will seek ISO certification to match its world-class quality standards.
To reduce the period patients are forced to wait, the hospital will have several doctors in each speciality, enabling more patients to be treated at the same time.
Equipped with the latest hospital information system, the facility also ensures that processes such as patient registration, maintenance of medical records and administrative procedures become more efficient.
