MUSCAT -- Haya Water has received international recognition for having a competent testing laboratory for water and wastewater after achieving ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the Dubai Accreditation Center (DAC).

The ISO 17025 certificate is the internationally recognised standard that is applied to testing and calibration laboratories all over the world and reinforces the reputation of Haya Water as a company developing a world-class water reuse project that incorporates leading edge technology and systems.

In such a complex project, it is vital for Haya Water to have a competent laboratory facility that caters for its analytical test requirements in the water reuse business at the different stages of its processes.

The Haya Water Laboratory team, which comprises of highly skilled and trained professionals and analysts, is fully committed to ensuring that their processes meet the highest and most stringent levels of standard that is comparable with other competent laboratories all over the world.

Haya CEO Hussain bin Hassan bin Ali said: "We are immensely proud to have achieved this international recognition that recognises that our systems and processes are aligned with the very best anywhere in the world.

"At Haya Water we always strive to achieve the very best quality in our processes and this ISO 17025 accreditation is a just reward for all the hard work and commitment from our team.

"Testing of both the raw wastewater and treated effluent is vitally important at all stages of the extremely complex processes the water reuse project has in place. It ensures that we are constantly measuring the quality of the water as it goes from its raw state to the finally treated effluent that is used for irrigation purposes."

The work of the laboratory testing team is a vital part of Haya Water's commitment to ensuring that its massive water reuse project helps to make Muscat a better city for everyone to live and work in for the future.

The vast majority of all wastewater collected from homes, offices and industrial premises is being treated using state of the art technology to make it available for use in irrigation and other purposes -- significantly benefitting the environment through the effective use of renewable resources.

Vast quantities of the treated effluent are already being used by Muscat Municipality to ensure its parks and open spaces stay green and other users include Muscat's main golf courses that require major amounts of water to keep their courses in condition.

Already thousands of homes and other commercial and governmental buildings have been connected to the new system and other thousand homes to be connected soon. This means the old smelly septic tank system will be a thing of the past ensuring a much healthier and environmentally friendly city for children and families to grow and prosper in.

Earlier in the year the laboratory was awarded the prestigious ISO9001:2008 certificate for its management system, making Haya's central laboratory one of very few laboratories in Oman which holds both the certificates ensuring its technical and management systems are of international standards.
