BAHRAINS national carrier Gulf Air will operate an extra daily flight between its home base and Jeddah from 9 July, bringing to three the number of daily services between the two cities.
The airline says the extra flights, which will run in both directions, offer more flexibility for Bahrain and Saudi-based business and leisure travelers and more flights for pilgrims who now have more choices to visit the holy city of Mecca via Jeddah.
Gulf Air acting chief executive Maher Salman al Musallam says the introduction of additional flights reinforced the importance of Saudi Arabia as a key long-standing market for the airline.
As part of Gulf Airs restructuring strategy, the airline is committed to strengthening its core services, specifically its regional network, he explains. We operate one of the largest networks in the region, he adds.
Gulf Air says it is looking to strengthen its network by increasing frequencies, boosting existing code share relationships and developing others.
We are in the final stages of negotiations to increase frequencies to a number of key destinations to offer more convenient travel options to our customers, he says.
