DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Dubai International Airport's $4.5 billion Terminal 3 will open from October 14, Dubai Airports said Wednesday.
The Emirates Airline-dedicated terminal will open in four phases, the airport operator said in an emailed statement.
"Terminal 3 and the associated development represent a much needed expansion of Dubai's aviation infrastructure," Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Airports, said in the statement.
Once fully operational, Terminal 3 will nearly double the airport's capacity to 60 million passengers a year from 34 million currently.
The terminal is designed for Emirates' fleet of A380 superjumbos and will have 25 gates for the superjumbo.
