* BP Egypt: The multinational oil and gas company has donated medical equipment worth EGP 2 million to fever hospitals in Cairo’s Abbassia and Imbaba, as well as Alexandria. The equipment will be delivered to hospitals this week and includes an ultrasound machine, a digital radiography machine with lead aprons, and ventilators.
* The Sawiris Foundation for Social Development: The entity has unveiled on April 4th donating EGP 100 million to the Egyptian state for coronavirus relief efforts. A total of EGP 40 million of the donation will be for daily wage workers and EGP 60 million to support medical facilities and provide them with ventilators.
* Orascom Construction: The engineering and construction contractor and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development announced on April 6th funding and arranging the repair of 110 ventilators for several public hospitals. The company has worked with international manufacturers of medical equipment to identify broken ventilators and will reportedly deliver them in the coming days.
* Sixth of October Development and Investment Company (SODIC): The real estate developer has announced on April 5th donating ventilators and monitors to the Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital, distributing protection packages with immunity boosters, sanitization material, and hygiene instructions in Ezbet Khairallah. The real estate company has made use of all its outdoor billboards and digital platforms to raise awareness about COVID-19.
* Centamin: The mining company has donated on April 6th EGP 10 million to support Egypt in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
* City Edge Developments: The country’s national developer has donated on April 6th EGP 10 million to the Tahya Misr Fund to support the Egyptian government's efforts to curb COVID-19.
* Al Ahly Sabbour: The real estate company announced on April 6th its cooperation with Tahya Misr Fund in purchasing several ventilators and 75,000 test kits to detect the emerging coronavirus infection, provide medical supplies for patients, and support doctors and nurses with all medical supplies.
The company also adopted another community initiative with the aim of supporting 30,000 families affected by COVID-19 through providing them with 250 tons of goods and basic needs.
* Emaar Misr: The real estate developer has donated on April 7th EGP 40 million to Misr El Kheir Foundation and EGP 10 million to the Egyptian government.
* Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK): The retail and commercial bank said on April 8th it donated five ventilators for three hospitals, namely Kasr Al Ainy, Abbasiya Fever Hospital, and Imbaba Fever Hospital.
* Ibnsina Pharma: The distributor of pharmaceutical and cosmetics products has put on April 8th its 750-truck fleet at the government’s disposal to help transport and distribute equipment and supplies to remote areas.
* Misr Cement (Qena): The cement company has donated on April 12th EGP 2 million to Tahya Misr Fund, aiming to support the Egyptian government in its fight against the novel coronavirus.
* Misr Insurance Holding Company: The company, as well as its subsidiaries Misr Life Insurance and Misr Insurance, have allocated EGP 10 million on April 12th to support the seasonal workers and irregular laborers.
* Cleopatra Hospitals Group: The healthcare investment platform has donated on April 12th EGP 10 million to support the Health Ministry in its fight to curb COVID-19.
* Al Yassin Holding: The group has donated on April 12th EGP 7 million, including EGP 5 million to support day laborers through the Tahya Misr Fund, EGP 1 million to Al Azhar's Zakat and Charity House, and EGP 1 million to support the poor families.
* Palm Hills Developments (PHD): The real estate company announced on April 13th it has teamed up with Orman Association to support 10,000 families of irregular workers in Egypt, with a total aid valued at EGP 2.5 million. The real estate corporation also donated a 200-room touristic complex to the Ministry of Health.
* Dubai-based Al Shafar General Contracting Company (ASGC): The group, including ASGC Egypt, has donated on April 13th EGP 5 million to seasonal workers who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Government Bodies
* The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA): The Egyptian authority has donated on March 22nd EGP 250 million of its available surpluses to help the most economically vulnerable groups to suffer from the coronavirus outbreak.
* The Parliament: Members of the Egyptian parliament said on April 7th they are giving up a portion of their bonuses to donate EGP 20 million.
* The Cabinet: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on April 8th that all ministers will donate 20% of their salaries for three months to Tahya Misr Fund.
Other Entities
* The Federation of Egyptian Industries: The body signed on April 6th a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Cure Bank and the Authority for Unified Procurement to repair 122 ventilators and purchase 21 more for use in public hospitals, at a cost around EGP 7.7 million. A total of 87 will be completed in two weeks and the rest within a month.
More Initiatives
* Challenge of Goodness, initiated by Banque Du Caire in cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank to urge businesses to help vulnerable families:
- Banque du Caire: the national bank announced on April 1st supporting 10,000 families of daily employment to provide emergency food aid for unregulated employment.
- EFG Hermes Holding: The Egyptian investment bank has accepted on March 31st the challenge from Banque du Caire, in cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank. The group decided to aid a total of 10,000 families negatively affected by the coronavirus crisis.
- The Commercial International Bank (CIB): The bank’s CEO Amr El-Ganayni announced the participation in the challenge with the support of 10,000 Egyptian families.
- PepsiCo Egypt: The global food and beverage company responded to Etisalat Misr’s challenge by offering support for 15,000 families and invited more brands to join the cause
- ABK-Egypt: The bank announced on April 8th its support for 5,000 families.
* The Federation of Egyptian Banks’ initiative: The entity rolled out an initiative to raise EGP 150 million to support households and businesses affected by the coronavirus
- Banque Misr has doled out on April 2nd EGP 80 million.
- The National Bank of Egypt has donated on April 5th EGP 80 million.
- Banque du Caire has allocated on April 6th EGP 40 million in donations.
- CIB revealed on April 6th depositing EGP 80 million in the Emergency and Crisis account at Banque Misr.
- The Export Development Bank has contributed on April 6th with EGP 20 million.
* The Breathe Campaign, launched by charity start-up Humankind, in cooperation with the Egyptian Cure Bank. It has so far raised EGP 10 million since its launch on March 31, enough to buy 30 ventilators costing EGP 240,000-430,000 each:
- Edita: The FMCG company in Egypt and the Middle East revealed on April 6th donating EGP 2 million to Misr El Kheir Foundation in support of the Breathe Campaign. The donation, which will also be used to support the purchase of critically needed personal protection equipment (PPE) for medical personnel, will be disbursed from the EGP 5 million Edita Foundation for Social Development founded last month.
* “Support the White Army” initiative, rolled out by Youm 7 newspaper to back Egypt’s “white army,” referring to the medical staff battling coronavirus:
- Oriental Weavers: The manufacturer of machine-woven carpets and rugs has announced a 25% discount on all its products for the Egyptian medical stuff.
- Melouk Group: The Cairo-based shoe and bags manufacturer and retailer has offered a 30% discount for doctors and nurses in Egypt, in support of their efforts.
- Lotfy: The footwear company has applied a 25% discount on all products in-store for doctors and nurses.
- Abo Halaka: The footwear company has offered discounts varying between 10% and 15% on all its items for doctors and nurses.
