Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) announced on 30 August it had been awarded a lump-sum turnkey contract to design and build LPG storage tanks for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries’ (Gasco’s) expansion of its gas processing plant at Ruwais. The award is valued in excess of $130mn. The contract is with Snamprogetti, prime EPC contractor for the owner (MEES, 14 March). CB&I will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of four 83,600 cu ms nominal capacity concrete full containment LPG tanks, including foundations and piping to grade.  Two tanks will store propane and two will store butane. Completion of the project is scheduled for mid-2008. The expansion project is designed to process 24,400 tons/day of raw NGLs through the construction of a third NGL train, plus product storage tanks, a jetty with two berths, and utilities. The plant will produce propane, butane and pentane plus for export, and ethane will be used as feedstock at the nearby petrochemical complex. This new NGL train is part of the Onshore Gas Development Project (OGD-3), which will increase production of condensate and NGL at Habshan. Foster Wheeler was awarded the OGD-3 PMC contract in February (MEES, 7 February).
