Ras Al Khaimah: A 600-page biography book titled Saqr - Fifty Years and More which marks the 59-year tenure of Ras Al Khaimah's ruler was launched on Wednesday.

Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), attended the launch of the authorised biography of His Highness Shaikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, at a glittering function held at Hilton RAK.

The book titled Saqr - Fifty Years and More traces the eventful life of the longest-serving Ruler in the world, focusing on the 59-year tenure of Shaikh Saqr.

Launched to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the accession of Shaikh Saud as Crown Prince of the emirate, the book also details the extraordinary changes and fast-paced economic growth that has taken place in RAK since 2003. Media Prima has published the book.

"Shaikh Saqr's life has been a saga of not just words, but action. His discipline and unflinching commitment to his ideals should inspire us all in our endeavours for the development of RAK and the UAE," Shaikh Saud said during the book launch.

He said that Shaikh Saqr had a very practical concept of development which rested on the premise that dreams about the future held no sense unless they are coupled with action.

"He firmly believed that there could be no development without the development of the individual. And he was one of the pioneers who strived to educate children in Ras Al Khaimah by establishing a number of schools," he added.
