MUSCAT -- BankMuscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, as part of its e-channel deployment strategy has extended the cheque deposit facility on 42 cash deposit machines (CDMs) spread across Oman.

The cheque deposit facility on CDMs is proving very popular among bank customers as it can be used 24/7 without visiting the branches.

CDMs acknowledge and issue transaction receipts for cheques deposited through the Easy Deposit Channel. Customers can deposit multiple cheques at the same time and the amount will be credited into accounts within 24 to 48 working hours.

Moslem Al Jahdhamy, Head -- eBanking, said: "The spread of BankMuscat CDMs across the Sultanate, at branches and off-site locations, has facilitated unparalleled convenience for customers. Driven by the latest technological features, the Easy Deposit Channel presents an innovative service from BankMuscat that allows customers and the general public to bank at convenience."

The Easy Deposit facility is attracting a growing number of customers for the simple reason that it offers a wide range of services, including cash deposit, credit card payment, utility bill payment, school fee payment and cash deposit into other BankMuscat customer accounts. This does away with the need to rush to the bank or wait in long queues for cash transactions.

With 135 machines, BankMuscat accounts for over 60 per cent of CDMs deployed in Oman. BankMuscat CDMs are utilised for over 50 per cent of all cash deposit transactions done at the Bank. Encouraged by this overwhelming response, the Bank started deploying CDMs at offsite locations in order to facilitate further migration and automation of cash deposit transactions away from the branches to public domains such as shopping malls.

The cash deposit facility is available for BankMuscat debit cardholders who can deposit cash to any BankMuscat account. The electronic channel offers a host of easy features, including transactions involving a large number of notes. Cash deposit on CDMs can be made in batches of 40 notes.

Credit card bill payment facility is available only for BankMuscat credit cardholders. The utility bill payment facility is available for both BankMuscat and non-BankMuscat customers. Pre-paid mobile top-up facility is also available through this electronic channel for Nawras customers.

The Easy Deposit Channels also facilitate money transfer abroad to pre-registered beneficiary bank accounts. The MoneyTransfer Abroad option is available 24/7 for BankMuscat debit cardholders and funds are credited to the beneficiary account between 24 and 48 working hours. Additionally, the Bank provides a free credit of talk time worth RO 1/- to any Nawras pre-paid number of the remitter's choice for each such MoneyTransfer Abroad transaction.
