WORK on a new BD27 million sea view outlet mall in Hidd is underway as part of a major commercial project.

The Bahrain Outlet Mall, located in the Bahrain Investment Wharf (BIW), Hidd, is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2020 and will consist of six connected buildings at six storeys each on a total built-up area of 108,000 square metres.

It will feature more than 418 shops, a 3,700sqm open area for events and activities and more than 4,000sqm of open terraces with panoramic sea views.

In addition to hosting exclusive brands, the mall will also include a cinema, hypermarket, restaurants, cafes and a food court.

The hypermarket will span the ground and first floor on a built-up area of 4,089sqm, while a male and female mosque will also be on hand on the fifth floor.

“In line with the country’s vision to boost tourism, Bahrain Outlet Mall serves to provide a unique shopping, dining, and entertainment experience,” mall chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said in a statement.

“Aiming to serve our community, the mall is created to embody the shopper’s convenience, enjoyment, and demands.”

The six separate buildings are linked by corridors, which provide sea views in between the buildings permeating natural sunlight across the mall.

Expected to attract a tumultuous welcome from visitors, a multi-storey car park with over 1,200 spaces connecting to the mall is also being constructed.

Spearheading the construction of the project is Gulf Builder for Trading and Contracting Company, which plans to complete construction by the last quarter of this year for its 2020 launch.

Its chief executive Abdulhamid Khalifa said the shopping complex will adopt a green policy which will contribute in decreasing power and water consumption.

“We believe that Bahrain Outlet Mall is an exciting project that will serve the Bahraini community,” he said in a statement.

“In line with our long-standing expertise and in-depth knowledge in various industries, we guarantee that our qualified and diverse team of construction-experienced professionals will provide the best quality for Bahrain Outlet Mall.

“With our vast experience in engineering, procurement and construction, we will ensure that the operation will be smooth and of high standards.

“In support for Bahrain’s advocacy towards a greener environment, Bahrain Outlet Mall will be the first mall in Bahrain to be developed as a green and sustainable building which will contribute in decreasing power and water consumption along with reducing the costs of operation and maintenance.

“Our emphasis on providing excellence in construction practices results in top-quality projects that are completed on time.

The BIW is a 1.7 million square meter model industrial city, located in the heart of the Salman Industrial Area, and provides a range of pre-serviced plots for industrial, logistic, commercial and residential use.
