BAHRAIN Hotels Company (BHC), owners and operators of Gulf Hotel, is eyeing over 70 per cent occupancy at its recently opened overseas property called Ocean Paradise in Zanzibar. "The $8 million joint-venture project of BHC, the first overseas project, has opened its doors for business," company chief executive Aqeel Raees said.
He told Bahrain Tribune that the Zanzibar project has been conceived and implemented by a group of group investors along with BHC. "We're expecting over 70 per cent occupancy as Zanzibar has emerged as one of the preferred tourism destinations in European and other Western markets. "We'll try to promote this property by using our existing means as well as expertise," Raees explained.
Bahrain-based Paradise Realty Holding Company (PRHC) has announced the opening of hotel in Zanzibar on the east African Coast. PEHC, under the Chairmanship of Mohammed Hussain Yateem, is made up entirely of Gulf investors including Bahrain-based Mishal Al Jarallah, Farouk Yousef Almoayyed, Ali Yousif Ubaidly and BHC. The project was completed in August and the official opening ceremony was attended by the President of Zanzibar, Amani Abeid Karume, as chief guest for the occasion.
Yateem, along with Al Jarallah, Almoayyed, Mohammed Jassim Buzizi and Raees of BHC, recently visited the property to participate in the official opening celebrations. During the official opening celebrations, Yateem presented Zanzibar President with a commemorative model dhow and hosted a lunch in his honour. The property, consisting of 92 African-style chalets was the brainchild of Al Jarallah, PRHC Managing Director, and is managed by BHC.
BHC Chairman Almoayyed said that the enterprise marked the company's first venture outside Bahrain and will play a major role in the tourist industry in Zanzibar. In his remarks at the opening celebration, Yateem thanked the BHC management team of managing director Buzizi, Raees, director of operations Garfield Jones and director of finance Chowdri R. Mansoor for their efforts and success in opening the resort.
