Bahrain City Centre (BCC), the Kingdom's biggest retail complex slated to open in 2007, will introduce top fashion and entertainment outlets to residents and visitors.
BCC has announced its leasing contract with Azal Group for 30 stores representing almost 11,200 square metres of prime retail space of this first leisure and shopping resort in the capital.
Among Azal stores to be launched at BCC is Virgin Megastore, one of the largest such outlets within the Middle East. The centre will also be home to Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Promod and Zara, the country's four known and existing international brands.
In addition, a number of new brands will be introduced for the first time in Bahrain: Zara Home, Bershka, Oysho, Salsa Jeans, Bijoux Terner, Paul, Columbus Cafe among others. "BCC is the ideal location for us to draw our target customers from the Middle East who are looking for the highest quality of shopping and widest product choices," said Wassim Daher, chairman of Azal Group.
"Azal Group and Majid Al Futtaim Group of Companies (MFGC) have maintained a very strong and close relationship over the years and the group has demonstrated time and again its ability to build unique and successful shopping centres in the region, attracting local residents and visitors. This significant deal with Azal demonstrates our ongoing commitment to offer the world's top brands in retail and leisure in all our projects," said Graham Dreverman, group vice-president, asset management, MAF Investments.
"Azal Group has been a long-standing partner throughout, providing our customers in Bahrain an exceptional retail offering." Thirty of the company's top world-class brands in retail and leisure will be featured in the latest project from MAF Investments.
On behalf of retailers, all leases at BCC are signed by Azal Group in partnership between Al Hawaj and Daher. Set to become Bahrain's biggest retail complex, the centre will house the Middle East's largest 20-screen Cineco Cinema, Carrefour and more than 350 stores.
It features a 5,000-square-metre Magic Planet and two hotels with a total of 700 hotel rooms combined which will directly link to the mall. The resort will also be home to the largest indoor water park in the Middle East, covering 12,500 square metres and providing a temperature-controlled aquatic experience to visitors all year round.
Other facilities will include 30 international restaurants and Bahrain's first Carrefour hypermarket which will span 16,000 square metres as well as 6,000 covered car-parking spaces.
