Sharjah, March 8th, 2006 (WAM) -- The opening session of the FourthACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications(AICCSA 2006) was held here Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the Main Building on the AUS campus.
The event, which is being held under the patronage of His HighnessSheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the American University of Sharjah(AUS), was inaugurated by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Al Qassimi,Vice President of Sharjah Executive Council and Chief of the SharjahEmiri Court. A large number of experts and renowned scholars have flown infrom around the world to participate in this conference, which will rununtil March 11, 2006. The scale of the conference this year is truly international,with contributing authors hailing from 48 countries around the globe. A total of 405 submissions were received out of which 150 were selectedas regular papers while another 50 were accepted as short papers withthe authors representing a variety of academic, industrial and governmentalorganizations. The submissions received focus on technical areas, such as, algorithms and bioinformatics, database and data mining, embedded systems,e-learning, multimedia, networking and wireless technology, security andinformation assurance, software engineering and applications, and VLSIcircuits, systems applications and signal processing. In addition to the technical sessions, the four-day conferencewill have seven tutorials and four high-profile keynote speakers, includingProfessor Khaled B. Letaief of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
