Dubai: Aqua Engineering and Tecton Engineering and Construction Consortium have won a Dh139 million engineering, procurement and construction contract to build a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant with a capacity to produce 7 million imperial gallons of clean water per day at Al Zawra, Ajman, from the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa).
This is the company's third such project. Tecton has an order book worth Dh1.5 billion.
While Aqua Engineering GmbH will design and supply equipment, the Ajman-based Tecton Engineering and Construction, one of the rapidly growing industrial engineering and construction companies in the UAE, will be responsible for construction and erection of the plant.
S. Lakshmanan, managing director of Tecton Engineering and Construction, said the scope of the work includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and commissioning of the plant.
He added that desalination by reverse osmosis is becoming more and more popular for its reliability and lower production costs.
The consortium built a three million gallon a day desalination plant in Qidfa (Fujairah) two years ago in addition to a six million gallon plant in Al Zawrah (Ajman) for Fewa about one year ago.
