MUSCAT -- Al Hassan Group of Companies, one of Oman's leading business conglomerates, has signed an agreement with Omania E-Commerce LLC (OEC) to move its procurement processes online via "Tejari Transact", the region's leading Business to Business (B2B) electronic marketplace. The move is expected to help Al Hassan Group to further streamline its procurement processes, allowing it to reach out and be available to potential suppliers and business associates in other parts of the world.

Maqbool Ali Salman, Managing Director, Al Hassan Group of Companies, said the group intends to integrate the e-marketplace with its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, allowing Al Hassan Group to reduce the paperwork which will contribute in reducing time, effort and operating expenses. The agreement was signed by Maqbool Ali Salman (pictured) and Mohammed Sulaiman Al Harthy, OEC's Managing Director.

Speaking on the occasion, Maqbool Ali Salman said "all over the world technology is revolutionising the way businesses operate and e-marketplaces, like Tejari Transact, are significantly changing the process of interactions between organisations and quality business associates locally, regionally and globally. And while, there may still be several stages of evolution that e-marketplaces in the region will have to cross before they become as advanced as e-marketplaces globally, the undeniable fact is "this is the future and we at Al Hassan would like to evolve with the times".

Al Hassan Group will implement the B2B e-marketplace across all its three Strategic Business Units (SBUs), Contracting, Trading, and Manufacturing. Al Hassan Engineering Co SAOG (AHEC), the Contracting SBU, was the first contracting company in Oman to be listed on the Muscat Securities Market. AHEC is a reputed contracting company with proven capabilities in civil, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation and pipeline disciplines.

The Trading SBU, Al Hassan Electricals LLC, has over three decades of experience in representing and marketing Electrical Trans-mission, Distribution and Auxiliary equipment from world leaders within Oman and the UAE. The Manufacturing SBU, Al Hassan Switchgear Manufacturing Company LLC, manufactures medium voltage and low voltage switchgears and control panels. It is a leader in its field with 65 per cent market share in Oman with 60 per cent of its production getting exported to Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries.

Al Harthy said: "We are delighted to join hands with such a reputable organisation and more importantly it is an important entry for Tejari in Oman to new verticals such as the construction industry. Realising the boom we are witnessing in the region, the construction industry is definitely one of the main drivers of this boom. Al Hasan Group taking such a strategic initiative will defiantly give them the competitive edge in the market regionally and globally".
