The Omani French Centre (OFC) distributed DELF (Diploma in French Studies) certificates to 66 students on Monday.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Mustafa Ali Abdullatif, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education, and H E Malika Berak, the French Ambassador to Oman.

"The DELF is an internationally-recognised qualification issued in France. Unlike some other certificates, it is valid for life," said Aurelie Rambaud, director of OFC. "DELF examinations are held twice a year in December and May. A person needs to undergo special training before sitting for the exam."

The students comprised 40 adults, 20 teenagers and six children, with DELF examinations being held for children for the first time this year. The certificate holders were from the two branches of the Omani French Centre in Muscat and Sohar, as well from the French language department of Nizwa University.

The centre also felicitated five staff members who are leaving office. The ceremony concluded with an oud performance by Yaqoob and Nibras from the Oud Fans Society.
